My 1TB drive is a green drive. It runs great and is good for storage. Not nearly as fast as my 640GB Blue drive though.

I bought the external Mybook 1tb and put it in my machine. I think it's a special model of green drive that only comes in the Mybooks. It has 8mb of cache and 320gb platters. I still get good file transfer speeds over 80mb/s on average. I only use it for network storage and backups.

Why not go with a black a series if it's for games?

I've heard nothing but good things about these drives.

As long as you don't try to run them in RAID. May good have mercy on your soul if you try running them in RAID.

I have 3 of these ranging from 500GB to 1GB.

They are very quiet and quite fast as well and they also have relatively low heat. Definitely recommended but get the 32MB cache versions if you can, 16MB at the minimum.

cache makes no difference, cache only really matter in burst rate, so instead of 16mb you get 32mb at burst rate speed, which is not really important.

My 8mb cache drive frequently sustains speeds higher than my 16mb cache drive. Both are 320gb-platter WDs. One is AAJS, the other is AAKS. The 1tb 8mb cache drive I have sits right in line with both of those on transfer speeds as well. I've seen bursts as high as 130mb/s on these drives.
