Just made it out of Ravenholm. Stopped at the buggy part. The coast looks awesome.

And just to give you guys an idea of the full size of these shots, here's one in full resolution. I'll spare you the roughly 8.5 megs of bandwidth. click below if you want to see it. (it's too big to host on photobucket haha!)

quite a few from the coast as I approached nova prospekt (which looks like some old haunted castle on the top of the cliff)

the extended viewing distance and lighting are absolutely spectacular.

This mod is made by one guy right?
I use high res texture mods for a lot of games and I cant help wondering why it is left to the mod community to make these texture updates. Typically the original textures are made with much higher resolution than is included in the game at release by the developers, so why not just include a ultra high res option for those with 512-1024mb Vram cards.

I absolutely hate, hate low res blurry textures and its very annoying to have to wait for the mod community (bless them) to make the game like it should have been from the beginning

the camera in the game actually has a slight pincushion form to begin with (meaning that objects in the corners of the screen will appear stretched and distorted). if you were to take that camera and zoom out more and more looking at the same thing, it would "see" more I.E. capture more of the world in one view but at the expense of straight edges.

basicaly, all of those stretched edges stitched together over and over create the illusion of barrel distortion. stitching togehter enough screen shots helps combat this becuase it has more straightness from the center of the screenshots to work with.

the game engine uses a "camera" view to see the game world. it's not perfectly straight on the edges. see for yourself. stand next to any NPC and look around when they're at the edge of the screen and you'll see the camera warp them the closer to the edge of the screen.
