The cry engine 3 video's looked atrocious, The jungle sections especially. So expect a much more linear experience than even warhead with crysis 2. If this was a port down job then fair enough but i have a feeling this'll be a fundamental gameplay shift, especially if they're going up against gears and killzone with it's set piece bull****.

So will we have a Crysis subforum under consoles or will the crysis subforum have subforums under it for pc and consoles.

IMO, Crytek guys are gonna be in for a rude shock when they finally learn the truth that neither pc exclusivity nor piracy was responsible for Crysis' poor sales

It will be interesting to see how low the detail settings will need to be in order to get it on the console. I'm sure it can be made to run decent at 1280 x 720 but it's going to have to have hella compressed textures to do so. Both the 360 and the PS3 only have 512MB of ram and Crysis on high can probably use that for the GPU alone. IIRC the system memory took a pretty decent chunk as well.

you forget that on consoles the CPU and ram work differently. You don't need to load the entire lvl on consoles and still have huge levels. I expect the console versions to look like the of version at 1280x720 with no AA and medium/high settings. Killzone 2 showed that consoles are no slouches. Yes it won't be über high of quality but for consoles it will still look great.

I still don't expect it to sell that good. Console gamers are more picky do to cost this generation. Heck I only buy games I know I will enjoy now...

Poor sales? They announced that they reached the one million mark a long time ago, so I wouldn't call it poor sales..

The only problem there is that the vast majority of PC users are using onboard graphics in a garbage prebuilt machine, which is vastly outclassed by, for instance, an Xbox 360. Not a lot of incentive to do the extra work.

We knew this was going to happen, but I don't know how well it will sell. FPS is pretty saturated on console now and no one played Crysis 1... a port of that game with some new levels, which are an expansion on PC, would probably sell better. What do I know though...

Actually, Crysis had a cliffhanger and everything... are they assuming most console gamers don't care, or played the original?

Anyway, in a bigger pond with no previous releases, Crytek will be drown out.

You base this comment on a compressed low resolution demo video?

It's not going to look any worse than warhead...and I don't hear anyone complaining about that looking atrocious.

As for the 2nd half of your comment, I kind of agree with you there. I doubt this will be a gears or halo killer, Killzone...ehh... I couldn't really get into that one. It was ok but nothing special. It looked nice though.

The only thing I'm scared of is an entire combat paradigm shift to "accommodate" the game pad controller which is more limiting in movement than the mouse/keyboard. I remember that the halo combat system AND level design were specifically built around this notion and are more dumbed down than most PC shooters.

In the crysis games (specifically during the alien scenes) there are enemies coming at you from every angle and you've got to react fast and I just don't see that being feasible with a game pad.

That's my biggest fear of this.

??? that's the worst reason to buy a game ever.
