Default Java apps (JDownloader) and nvidia 180.* AND 185.* problems

Since 180.* series, I can't start JDownloader without graphic corruption nor system hang.
I posted it in other thread, but since it's too big enough I decided to post this specific problem in another thread.
It can be reproduced in my case with KDE4 (with and without composite), nvidia 180 and 185 series, and JDownloader., and with a 9600M GT card.
In my case there is nothing special to do besides opening JDownloader. Just when it shows it main window, graphic corruption will come.
I need to add 2 notes:
- It didn't happen with other laptop I had with a 8600M GS card with same programs installed
- A difference between 180 and 185 is that, besides graphical corruption is present in both, in 185 series, it will not hand system, and that corruption is a bit less annoying.
I attach a gz containing the nvidia-bug-report output.

Should you need more test/outputs just request. And please, look at this issue since it seems a blockstopper in development a stable nvidia-driver

I've tried again and took some screenshots with my mobile phone to show that corruption, and, in this case, I've had to hard reset my laptop since it hanged (with 180.60)
I attach those two images (showing taskbar and Desktop Folder plasmoid corrupted).

I have the same problem with JDownloader. The screen corruption occurs whenever the application is started. I have no problems with other Java applications (e.g Eclipse). Sometimes the system stays repsonsive but most of the time it freezes after a few seconds.

I had the same problem with other driver versions (180.xx and 185.xx) as well.

ditto but I've only started getting it since they released an update a few days ago. Quite crazy that what ever they are doing in java can f-up x/nvidia driver so much.

some xids are in response:

Also, when it happens, it makes my screen flicker like nuts. Changing to a tty and back makes the screen stop going nuts but now the screen is all f'd up and while restarting kwin/plasma fixes most things, many things are screwed up the remainder an affected process (they display random contents).

Jdownloader works w/o issue after startup. Starts all over again if you restart jdownloader though

After reading your post I tried following procedure:
1) Start JDownloader
2) Switch to a ttyX immediately (as there is a short time window before screen corruption starts)
3) Wait a few seconds
4) Switch back to KDE

Following this procedure I don't get any screen corruptions because, as you already said, JDownloader is working fine after startup.

Because eclipse does use SWT which is based on GTK+.

I tried to reproduce this problem, but was unable to. Which JDownloader release are you using, and which JRE/JDK?

From the download page, I see they have version Download v0.5.917. However, there must be an update available because my instance says 0.5.949, so be sure to execute the update manually As for java versions, java-1_6_0-openjdk-1.6.0.0_b16-1.2:
java version "1.6.0_0"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (IcedTea6 1.5pre) (suse-1.2-x86_64)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 14.0-b10, mixed mode

As I can see, all people wich had problems, were running 64bit systems. Did you try Zander with a 64bit system too?
I use:
JDownloader 0.5.917
Java: Sun JDK 1.6.0.14 (64bit)

Default Re: Java apps (JDownloader) and nvidia 180.* AND 185.* problems

I think I discovered something new.
This bug seems to be triggered EXACTLY in the moment it changes from the splash screen to JDownloader main screen, and can be temporarily workarrounded by what crnv said.
So there is a point here caused, or by nvidia, or by java itself at showing certain windows that corrupts screen.

Any hint what is causing this issue?
