Game runs a ton better in Windows 7. Under Vista x64 it was slightly laggy to me, kinda a slight stutter to it just felt slow. Just reinstalled W7 7232 x64 and GB is butta smooth even with AA on. Using the new Nvidia betas 186.18 in both OSes.

Playing it now. Since I don't use Nhancer, there is no AA but in this game it's not really that noticeable. Game plays nice and smooth, no slowdowns whatsoever so far. You can pretty much interact with anything, physics feel pretty good and realistic. I think they did a pretty good job of getting the cpu more involved in physics and having the vid card doing the rendering. A nice harmony there which is refreshing. Mouse movement could be a bit better, it's smooth but when moving the mouse quickly, it changes speed (seems like mouse acceleration is stuck on with no way to turn it off that I can see) but it's acceptable (I've seen worse). The voice acting is a bit too cliche for me, it attempts to be funny but I don't find it to be much (maybe it's because I was never much of an Ackroid or Murray fan). Lots of action, effects, and eye candy. All in all a pretty good game to me.

Hmm anyone get a lot of framerate drop when you are using your proton cannon? It's fine initially but when I actually start hitting a ghost with it I get a HUGE fps drop, and I am not sure why. I turned off AA and stuff too to see if that would help and I still get the slowdowns. I am using dual 8800 ultras, which aren't the newest, but they should be able to hold their own... not sure what's up.

I have not noticed any slowdowns at all with the cannon or anything else.

Been playing this game some more. The more I play and see, the more I like it. Sometimes the thought comes into my head as I'm playing about the comments here of this game looking like or being garbage. I'm shaking my head and going, "man this is some pretty damn good garbage". IMO, this game looks as good and plays as good as anything out right now. Glad I didn't listen to the nay sayers and bought this game. To me, a very good deal at $30 and I would have even paid the premium $50 for it.

+1 Atari did it right!

Great looking game, runs great in SLI w/ 8xAA and max settings. Even a single 275 throws it around pretty well. The Infernal Engine is a great engine.

My only complaint is the game was rather short beat it in 3 sittings. And some slow downs in certain areas. ie the hotel sedgewick.

rename the .exe to ut3.exe and force AA from the NV CP.

My game is on Steam. I've heard that method doesn't work in this case. I would assume that Nvidia should be releasing drivers that can enable it like they did with Bioshock. I hope so anyway. In this game not having FSAA is not that bothersome to me but I would still take it if I could get it.

Wait till you get to the secret island level if you the hotel level slowed down your computer.
I agree this game looks better than any other UE3 game I have seen (and by a fair amount when maxed out), but at least on a radeon 4890 the game does chug with 4xAA enabled.

Mike, give a try to nHancer. You are loosing the best tool for the nVidia cards.

this game is "ok" IMO. the graphics are passable, remember this game is on the consoles too so it's not like it's cutting edge or anything. basically all the PC version offers over the consoles is higher resolutions and mouse control.

the best part about the game is definitely the nostalgia factor. the character models look vaguely like the people they're supposed to represent and the dialogue is done by the actors from the two movies. if you liked the movies at all you get some novelty out of being a Ghostbuster....but beyond the novelty/nostalgia the game doesn't offer much. the mechanic of trapping ghosts is particularly weak.

but if you want to see a really bad Ghostbusters game....try the NES version. or just watch The Angry Video Game Nerd review
