+1 for black. Got 3 of them, going to raid two now that Vista is done and Win7 will be RTM soon.

I just got an email from Newegg and they have the WD Caviar Green 1 TB SATA drive with 32mb cache now for $79.99 and free shipping if you use promotion code EMCLVMR33

The 750gb version is $59.99

Would it be a bad idea to get a WD Caviar Green if you're a gamer or you would'nt even notice? There's a sale in our local store and I'm tempted to get the green caviar coz its cheap but man, if my games will run slow then I'll pass.

I don't know if I'd say slow, but I'd expect load times to be anywhere from 15-30% slower with the green.

Well, it might be worse than that. Have a look at http://www.tomshardware.com/de/chart...hmarks,50.html
(German part of the website - I assume you'll find the same on the UK or US part of it)

But I too don't know if you'll notice the speed difference in daily operation.
I'm quite happy with my WD10EADS

does the entire caviar black line do that on the asus P5B or just the 1tb drive? Im deciding between the 640gb and 1tb drive.

I have 4 WD1001FALS at home and haven't had a single problem with any of them, all bought at various times over the last ~6 months. 2 in a software RAID5 with a Seagate ST31000340AS (blech) and 2 as rotating backups.

I can boot fine from the FALS without going into bios but I don't have AHCI enabled.
