Um, actually, this is a topdown action RPG, mostly featuring inside dungeons and catacombs, it will naturally require a lower end computer just by nature of the genre, so I doubt making it cartoony to make it playable for everyone is what they were thinking.

My point is that it is easier to accept a low detail environment if the style is somewhat cartoony as cartoons per se are low detailed. A realistic looking game like for example ARMA2 does not look good with low detail. Here is an example with all settings at low: http://www.pcgameshardware.com/aid,6...&show=original Here is a screenshot of Torchlight to compare with: http://www.torchlightgame.com/wp-con...troll-lava.jpg |

I like the art style, I'd say it looks closer to Mythos than Diablo. Mythos was stylized but still quite nice looking.
I already preordered this on Steam, can't wait.

Just tried it, and honestly, this is the most similar game to Diablo I have ever played. Even the music (some instruments and notes) looks totally ripped from Diablo soundtrack. You can breath Diablo everywhere, the sound from the items dropping, socketed items... I wonder if I will find the horadric cube.
You may like or dislike the graphics and the art style, but for me this game is the closest thing to Diablo I have seen, this may be good for some people and bad for others, but I love this game, if there weren't so many great games out right now, I would put a lot of hours into Torchlight

It is just like Diablo, every small detail, music, inventory, identify scrolls, the whole thing. Of course, many of the designers that made Torchlight made Diablo/Diablo II.

There is a INI file at "your user\appdata\roaming\runic games\torchlight", you can enable vsync and play with other settings from here. AA can be enabled from game menu.
I love this game, IT's Diablo!!!

I know this sounds weird and Diablo didn't have it, but I would like a little circle on the ground when I click to move. I wish it had it.
Regardless, this game is crack! |

Yeah indeed, this game is awesome! And it offers a real challenge on hardest difficulty (especially if you start with a Destroyer).
