Default Fedora 11 + 185.18.xx + VDPAU + Sensors Applet = Slow Video

I've noticed that in my upgrade from Fedora 10 to Fedora 11, VDPAU has gotten a nasty habit of becoming choppy. I've narrowed it down to the gnome-sensors applet. I removed it from my panel and videos now play fine.

It seems when the sensors refresh this causes the video to crawl -- 100% Xorg usage is seen. The sensors area on the panel blanks out during this time of video choppiness and the video plays normally when I can see the sensors again. The maximum interval of 10 seconds does not help.

I have compiz enabled. Disabling compiz does not change this behaviour.

I've seen this on a 9650M GT, but not on a 9800 GTX+. Gathering more info...

After I removed the sensors applet I added it back and videos still play fine. Ugh.
