Default lost kde4 decoration effects with 2.6.30

I wonder if anyone encountered the following problem:
upon installing kernel 2.6.30 I am loosing all decoration effects in kdemod 4.2.4
lost transparency
lost transition from login screen to desktop, lost some of window decoration effects ("glowing" window edges)

I have currently installed:
2.6.30 vanilla

my system
Arch linux (up to date, last system update 06-23-09) i686
kdemod 4.2.4 (up to date) i686
nvidia video card Go 7400
nvidia driver 185.18.14
file system: xfs

all kernels with installed nvidia module, so I can boot each kernel straight to GUI without re-installing nvidia driver.

Each time I boot to any of my 2.6.30 I am loosing effects, when booting to these effects are restored.
My understanding is that not everyone using kdemod 4.2.4. has this problem however these users have different card or linux architecture (64-bit)

I don't see any errors in /var/log/Xorg.0.log or /var/log/messages.log
I had the same problem with nvidia driver 180.53

when I boot to 2.6.30 and try to disaable first and then re-ebable desktop effects I am getting the following error:
Failed to activate desktop effects using the given configuration options. Settings will be reverted to their previous values.
Check your X configuration. You may also consider changing advanced options, especially changing the compositing type.
However changing compositing type from OpenGL to XRender does not fix anything.

It seems that there are some changes introduced to the 2.6.30 I wonder if I am the only one with this issue?

Any help would be appreciated.
