I recently built a machine and used zotac's itx-b motherboard. It says it has an onboard 9400M GPU. I am running Ubuntu 9.04. I installed the 185.18.14 driver as recommended from places I read. I restarted and now I have worse resolution than before. I can only select between 640x480 and 320x240. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Matt |

My advice is to get rid of the manually installed drivers and use this repo instead :
Code:
deb http://ppa.launchpad.net/thefirstm/ppa/ubuntu jaunty main Although from the log it does seem that it doesn't detect the CRT monitor correct. Quote:

I looked into the nvidia-settings application and didn't find anything that would let me specify my display, or force any sort of setting. Did I miss something or is there a command I can run from the command line to force a setting?
Thank for your quick response. |

Yes, you can force a monitor setup in xorg.conf if you know the horizontal and vertical Hz. Don't remember what the settings are called, but I remember it being described in Nvidia's README file. |

That worked. I ended up following the instructions here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.p...379#post129379
Thanks for your help! |

Glad I could help. Do also check up on using the ppa instead of manually installed driver. You'll thank yourself when the kernel gets updated.
