Default install problem on debian Lenny with 8600GT

Hi All,

my sytem is debian Lenny and i have a nvidia 8600GT card.
i am using a self compiled kernel from kernel.org version 2.6.29.2-2009050701.

my system still worked for some time until i updated my system
with aptitude update and upgrade. Since this time i can not
get any 3d Games to run. Before this happened i played several 3D games
without problems. I updated my linux kernel, as i did several times before
without problems with make-kpkg. The kernel and kernel-header
packages are installed in my debian system,
Code:
ii linux-headers-2.6.29.2-2009050701 1.0 Header files related to Linux kernel, specifically,
ii linux-image-2.6.29.2-2009050701 1.0 Linux kernel binary image for version 2.6.29.2-2009050701
Further on my symlinks are correct i think,
Code:
lrwxrwxrwx  1 root src        23  2. Jul 16:07 linux -> /usr/src/linux-2.6.29.2
drwxrwxr-x 24 root root 4096 1. Jun 15:30 linux-2.6.29.2
drwxr-xr-x 21 root root 4096 7. Mai 17:51 linux-headers-2.6.29.2-2009050701
Here is a nvidia-bug-report,
http://pastebin.com/f6c75fa68

Any Idea what is wrong on my system ?

regards markus

When you say that the 3d games don't work what does that mean?

I've found a number of times that after a apt-get dist-upgrade I'll need to reinstall the nvidia drivers in order to get 3d going again (2d is fine). Anything that ties to use accelerated opengl will dump me back to the login screen.

Hi Last DOg,

i got it to work. I recompiled and reinstalled the kernel and then reinstalled
the Nvidia driver. Now it works.
