Live Mail is pretty good IMHO. All they need to do is have Live Calendar and Task sync with WM7. :

speaking of LIVE, i wonder if they are planning a huge LIVE services (messenger, mail, photo gallery etc..) remake for win7.

Probably not, I think Live will just evolve on it's own independent of OSes.

I've been thinking of going "alternative" on my software needs. What's a good alternative to Outlook? I've used it for a while now and I like it. I depend on the Calendar thinger quite a bit, however, hotmail has not POP access, which kinda sucks.
I know Thunderbird is an option, but from what I can tell (haven't used it) it has no Calendar....

Ooooh. thanks for the link.
Question though: Why not just enable POP access from the get-go? They used to support it, but they became cheap(er) asswipes and decided to only include it in the "premium" version of hotmail. Either way I'm transitioning everything to my gmail account, but I still need to keep this alive just in case.

If anyone is interested, I've been using Thunderbird for about a day, and I must say it's pretty sleek.
Also, I added a Calendar manager called Lighting, and it's the PERFECT open source replacement for Outlook. Takes a wee little bit getting used to, but now it's chugging away quite nicely once I set everything up the way I like it. The only thing I don't like (or preferred about Outlook) is how attached images were resized to fit in the preview window. Oh well... not a big deal.

In the latest build the Windows Mail directory exists, but there's no mail program. Winmail is gone. The only part left is the WAB (Windows Contacts).
