Thugs are easy with the ripper or deobombs.

Redeemed, imagine the game as L4D at a lot slower pace where at every corner you can die due to zombies not being just cannon fodder for the special infected. Imagine where you need to scroung for supplies and weapons and not handed to you. It feels like a big world rather then some small street corner, I love just getting lost looking for supplies.

Btw AA works fine to those that care. I'm running with 8xAA.

I played it a little more last night and while it's not the best game it's OK. It had the potential of being a good game. But overall I'd say skip it. If you ever felt motion sick from playing a FPS game then this is one to skip. I can play it but I have to basically pause or stop for a bit every 20-30 mins.

I dislike how fast the weapons degrade, sure there are a lot of weapons that drop, but still after about 3-6 kills the weapons are just about to break and do less damage than your kicks. That to me is the most idiotic thing. I upgraded weapons to max and they are exactly the same. It's as if that durability stat on weapons doesn't do jack. Your better off just kicking everything to death, and only use the weapons if you need to take down something bigger like a thug or have more than 2 enemies around you. Otherwise the kick is the ultimate weapon in the game.

The Far Cry 2 like game play I don't like too much. You clear out a section everything along the path (even the stuff you searched and got items from) respawn. It makes escort missions a pain, cause they don't follow you, you have to follow them and make sure they don't die on the way since they pick the path with zombies in their way. Even if you cleared out sections along the path they are taking, if it's an escort mission they are all back.

The respawning and leveling up zombies to the same level as you is a horrible game mechanic IMHO. The better way to do it is to randomize them up to the same level but put more of them as you level up. As far as I have gotten it's not at all scary, it's been pretty boring. Just go around, see a zombie or two, get them to go after you and kick em to death. Or use more gruesome methods with your weapons and have them degrade and cost a small fortune to repair by the time you get back to a workbench. They should be making it so I want to use my weapons all the time, not save them cause they all break so easily. They should make me want to upgrade them, but so far upgrading does nothing really to improve them. Maybe if a max upgraded weapon doesn't reduce the damage it does even after it's nearly broken it'd be worth upgrading, but as it stands, even if you maxed out the weapon, by the time it is 3/4 degraded, your kick will do just about the same amount of damage.

Ok, I'm into act 2 now, level 8 or 9... driving vehicles.

THIS GAME IS FAR CRY 2 WITH ZOMBIES. ....There it is /truth. I didn't mind FC2, but this game is identical to Fary Cry 2 so if you hated FC2.. YOU WILL HATE THIS!!!

EDIT (I didnt read the post above me mentioning FC2 till after I posted this)

No issues here, the HDR is great when you go from inside to outside.

Ha, gotta reply to my own thread, someone pls try this and see if it works.

As I have never created a Steam forum account before and it apparently takes them a ****ing life time to activate your account, I thought I would try this, and hope Reddit comes through for me.

There have been people claiming to have a FOV fix that involves hex editing some *.dll files which is a big no-no for VAC, which can result in you being banned, there is a much easier way to edit the CameraDefaultFOV cvar located in Data0.pak/Data/Skills/default_levels.xml

To do so, simply extract the file, locate your Dead Island folder in your user's documents folder, where your audio and video settings are already saved, and create a "Data" folder, a "Skills" subfolder, and place the default_levels.xml in the skills sub folder. Open the file, edit away.

If any of you could be so kind as to xpost this to:

http://forums.steampowered.com/forum...lay.php?f=1171

For me, I would be thankful. - Charo

To be clear, your DeadIsland folder should have this structure:

DeadIsland

->out

->->data

->->->skills

->->->->default_levels.xml

->->logs

->->settings

I don't know, I can't hardly stand to play this. Seeing that weapons only last for about 5 kills, having to go into the clumsy inventory screen every ten seconds in order to equip a new weapon for the next 5 kills is about the most annoying thing I've ever encountered in a game.
