Question Can I create two VDPAU device instances on nVIDIA 9800 GX2?

Hi, everyone,

It is said that we are not able to create multiple VDPAU device instances on just one GPU. But can we create 2 VDPAU device instances on a dual-core nVIDIA VGA card? There are many such kind of product in the market, such as the GeForece 9800 GX.

Thanks a lot

If the two GPUs are not coupled together in SLI (I don't recall if it's possible to configure such a card that way), then I think this should work.

Hi, Stephen,

How about GeForce GTX 295?

I am pretty sure there are two cores on just one PCB board. Will the Linux system recognize it as 1 VGA card or 2? Because we need to open an xserver first in order to create a VDPAU device instance. Have you ever tested on such a VGA card?
