Default Resident Evil 5 PC Hands on

http://uk.gamespot.com/news/blogs/pr...gumballs;img;1

Wow im really looking forward to this, the performance and 3d vision support is an awesome plus from an already awesome game, add that to the full keyboard and mouse support, the higher res textures and superior lighting and your onto a winner.

Have to say Capcom are surpassing my expectations with there latest and upcoming releases. Ever since Lost Planet they just seem to get it right on the PC. Nice job and other developers take note.

I'd like to give this game a shot on the PC, never did get around to buying RE4 for PC.

Way to go Capcom. Thumbs up

Fortunately, that won't be the case with the PC version of RE5, which will have full support both for the USB Xbox 360 controller, as well as full-on mouse-and-keyboard free-look, just like your favorite PC-native first-person shooters. You can even switch controls on the fly--should you put down your USB controller and grab your mouse, the game will immediately recognize the change in input and also give differing contextual instructions onscreen (instead of instructing you to press your controller's blue X button to pick up that box of bullets, it'll instead prompt you to press your F key). The PC controls seem to work quite well and are very intuitive; while using a USB controller will activate the classic Resident Evil red laser gun-sight on your weapon to help you paint your targets, switching to a mouse-and-keyboard setup will turn off the laser sight and pull up a traditional targeting reticle with full, free mouse-look--without any console-style "sticky aim" or any other kind of aiming assistance. Using Chris Redfield's knife for close encounters or just to smash open barrels without wasting bullets will be a matter of pressing and holding the space bar to draw your knife, then left-clicking on your mouse (the default fire/attack input) to swing your weapon. What's most gratifying about the PC control scheme is that you don't have to use RE5's "real-time inventory" system, which would pull up your inventory in translucent windows onscreen right on top of the action and right before that raging zombie buried a knife in your face. Instead, you can swap weapons first-person-shooter style with the number keys on your keyboard. You can even reload by pressing the R key.

Wow, The control changes are awesome... that actually sounds like a real positive change. I wish the weapon switching would be updated to realtime in the console version... no reason for it not to have it.

Still wish the game was survival horror and not action... feels so bland. =\

On-the-fly control switching with the context buttons changing is just awesome, I wish it was more standard. Gears of War was one of the first and glad to see Capcom picking up on it.

The benchmark had major problems on ATI hardware, so hopefully this isn't a nVidia-optimized game ("TWIMTBP") at the expense of ATI.

This is the first Capcom game that interests me somewhat. May have to buy it just to support them on PC.

I've only played the crapbox 360 demo and couldn't get used to the run, stop, aim, fire, run and so on. Any idea if you can actually run, aim, and fire at the same time on PC?

Wont happen. It would require a change in the games design... also the game creator is against such a concept. It was asked for on the console version way before its release but they refused... hell we were thankful that they atleast changed the controls somewhat compared to the earlier controls.
