Default ASRock Nettop ION 330 deinterlace performance?

Hello!

I bought a new Nvidia ION system to watch Live-HDTV but the hardware seems to be too slow for that.

System 1
My configuration:
ASRock Nettop ION 330
Ubuntu 9.04 amd64
VDR
xine-vdpau rev 275
Performance profile loaded in bios

I get a lot of:
video_out: throwing away image with pts 4299359 because it's too old (diff : 4139 (just an example)
and video glitch every two seconds or more.

# vdpau: HD deinterlace method
# { bob half temporal half temporal_spatial temporal temporal_spatial }, de$
video.output.vdpau_deinterlace_method:temporal

engine.buffers.video_num_buffers:2500

With bob or half temporal it works with HDTV 1920x1088i but better quality lags video in a few seconds.

Here is the result from qvdpautest:

No problem with this system!

I am a bit disappointed and need to know if the hardware is the limitation?
Videocard has 512 MB memory dedicated but maybe the memory is too slow?
I have tried xine-lib 1.1 and 1.2 and new new nvidia beta driver with the same results.

xine-lib-xcb-bug-lockdisplay.diff
xine-lib-buggy_discontinuity.diff

These patches might help (for xine-lib 1.2).

Temporal + Skip Chroma should work on your system for 1080@25.

It works! What is the minimum number of frames/s required? Your answer is based on? I want to use a better deinterlace filter.

Thank you!

I did try the LOCKDISPLAY patch for xine-lib 1.1 but the result is still the same.

Why?
(Or to rephrase the question: Could you share a non-artificial sample that shows a visible difference between temporal-nochroma, temporal, temporal-spatial-nochroma and temporal-spatial? If yes, please upload to
ftp://ffmpeg.org/MPlayer/incoming - write only - and post the filename here. I'm curious and I am searching for such useful samples of interlaced content.)

Could you confirm that this system does support temporal-spatial de-interlacing of 1080i content without framedrops? There were reports in this forum that this is usually impossible with the 9500 GT.

No framedrops at all 1920x1080i 50Hz + chroma and the video clip was sports (hockey). It was recorded material because my DVB-S2 card is connected with the ASRock ION 330.

I was a bit fast with my answer. It's harder see the problem while watching Live-TV but there are a lot of framedrops on Eurosport HD right now in the logs (shell window with --verbose=2). The HW have small problems with temporal deinterlace but without chroma. I am so disappointed....

I wanted a small system with perfect deinterlace options and I made my test configuration on my desktop computer with a 9500GT. Is the ION platform based on 9400GT? I thought that and temporal would be no problem.

There are a few examples with ION platform and they use temporalx2 successfully.
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/VDPAU

It seems that ION platform is ok if bob deinterlace is enough.

Bob usually doesn't look very good, but you wrote above that temporal (with nochroma) works fine: Imo, VDPAU temporal deinterlacing looks very nice (comparable to yadif).

Sorry, I had missed this message when writing my last post.

While I always thought one should not take qvdpautest's numbers too literally, I am still surprised that your 9500 GT succeeds in temporal-spatial, while your ION system fails with temporal no-chroma (on the same video, of course).

Perhaps you also want to test mplayer...
