I'm sorry guys, but that's still bull. The game originally came out when the i7 and the 4870/GTX280 were out. I don't buy it for one second that this was not worth doing for the PC one year ago because systems couldn't handle it... Heck, Aspyr is terrible. If a better company was doing it, we'd need 2/3rds of those specs...
The high end market is only like 5% or less anyway, and back then, yeah.

Perhaps that means we are getting better textures.

Or perhaps it just means they are not compressing everything for some reason.

Get better info next time...

Here are the Steam survey results for November 2008....

Quote:
Out of 10 million Nvidia users, more than three million people own a high-performing GeForce 8800 card
Quote:
Dual-core dominates with 49.04%, e.g. almost eight million people own a dual-core processor.
Quote:
Focus optimization on two cores, most likely in 2.5 GHz range
So last year, about 50% of the market (based on a sample of 15 million users) met the CPU requirements for the game. At least 30% of Nvidia users met the requirement of the 8800 (not to mention ATI cards like the 2900 and the 3870, and other Nvidia cards like the 9800GT, 280GTX etc). That's 20% with the 8800 alone. I'm willing to bet that at least another 20% had other models from either Nvidia or ATI that exceeded the 8800.

Ignore the Dual Core stats. They probably register Intel Celeron's and Intel Dual Duo branded CPUs in that count which we all know preform like **** compared to Core 2. They were a built point by Intel, not an actually performance Chip.

Point is correct but...

CPU-wise, best sellers are Core 2 Duo E6600 and E6700 processors (2.4-2.66 GHz),

Sample of 15 million? Last I checked the PC market was 100 million plus... reduces those numbers you posted by 85%.
