As I already pointed out, they arent scaling up or down, their engine supports both platforms, they just need to compile it for either 360 or PC, and itll run the same code, and the same content, so honestly itll end up being less effort

If the game looks anything like the last screenshots I saw, it was certainly designed for PC and then scaled down for consoles.

If they cut the PC version exactly like the 360 version, they're going to piss off a lot of people.

I think you're probably right that this is mostly just the views of a writer that wants more hits on his site.
I highly doubt you will be switching discs on a PC game. There will probably be an install with the multiple discs, and then Disc 1 or something like that will serve as the disc required to play the game (ie the disc with DRM on it).

Oh, BD for the win lol

I am pretty sure JC said the PS3 will have higher quality textures due to BlueRay capacity of disk so no real limitation for game file size. For X360 Microsoft charges extra licencing fees for each disk for a game, this made JC (at least to me) mad or frustrated, so the X360 will be on a single DVD with lower quality due to MS licencing of per DVD disk leading to an extra cost. The pc version I thought will be the same or better then the PS3 version. If PC version is the X360 version then that would suck.

I hope this game also supports Macs and Linux but wondering if it is OpenGL friendly. This I've have not heard one way or another.

For me it would be nice having a good FPS with good controller reponse but also KB and mouse as well. I will judge the game, if I buy or not, once I see some reviews and see some feedback.

Damn, if Rage would only really fit on Blurays, how many years would I have to download it on steam?!

I'm only on a 512kbps connection, and I'm not about to buy a BluRay drive for just one game. And, BluRay movies are still very expensive in our country.

I'm actually surprised people are making such a big deal over this... Carmack hasn't been relevant in gaming for a long time. Certainly, he's contributed a lot to gaming and PC gaming specifically, but he's not really hip to what's going on if you ask me.

In a world where article after article is touting the PC as a non-wasteland, thriving on digital download services, ahead of the curve, the biggest installation base of any system, and possibly the most under-reported sales ever, that Carmack thinks consoles are the wave of the future is short sighted. If that were true, he'd pull a Cliffy B. and not even bother with PC - but he knows better.

Again, this is assuming the reporter actually wrote things up the way Carmack intended; and never trust reporters to do that. They want to enrage people, they don't want to report truth.

What a bunch of crybabies. As long Rage runs and looks great on PC, I don't really care. PC gaming isn't going away anytime soon neither Carmack said it's end of PC gaming or stop supporting it.
