Blacks firmware or whatever is optimized for games when striped (small files)

Which is fine to me. Reliability is the most important thing and this will be the only drive in the system and will run the OS, games, apps, and also store files.

I'm pretty sure the WD10000LSRTL is just a retail version of the WD1001FALS. I have 4 WD1001FALS at home, 3 in an internal hot-swap enclosure along with a Seagate drive, and the only thing I hear is the 80mm fan.

I bought the exact same WD Black Caviar 1TB from Newegg for my build and so far it has been a great drive. Stays cool and quiet, I'm very pleased with my purchase.
