Thats what i'm doing too.

personally, i'm interested in any tidbit regarding Doom4 and MechWarrior5.

I quit playing games for like 2 years around late 2002... I was pretty active at the time, as in going out on the town like the cool kids do, and I just wanted to stop being a slave to new game releases and such.

I got back into it after 2 years because my lifestyle slowed down again and then my roommate was playing Doom 3 and I HAD to have it. Upgraded my PC and have been more or less constantly gaming ever since.

Some time in the last couple of years I almost completely stopped playing games for several months.

My post count here SOARED, and some time after that I got back into gaming and my bank account started to suffer.

I've bought so many games in the past two years its ridiculous. I think between Steam, my legal game downloads (Gamersgate, GoG etc) and my boxed game collection I have around 250 PC games.

You've paid for 250 games over the last 2 years and you work at Walmart (over 10 games a month each month!)... you must be a saint...

Considering the large game collections steam has, with $50 for like 20 games, its not too hard to imagine.

Also, I dont feel L4D or L4D2 is consolized, sure its on console, but its gameplay on PC hasnt been affected in the typical "consolization" alot of games have suffered, though it is difficult to say either way since there is nothing before L4D, but as far as FPS goes its got good controls, if there was a L4D...before L4D, then we could tell if its been "dumbed down" since the previous ones.
Bioshock for example, still a good game on PC, has a touch of consolization, since it is ment to be System Shock 2s spiritual successor, so we have a frame of reference.

As for games I am looking forward to:

System Shock 3
Thief 4
Duke Nukem 4

...oh wait

I'm a poor graduate student and I have probably bought more than that...

Sounds like you are just getting tired of playing games. I still like playing PC games now as much as when I first started (and that was many moons ago). I'm pretty critical on games and just choose the ones I like to play (and will keep playing). There are enough out (and still coming) that I still have a lot of them on my computer (though I do not keep the ones I don't like and won't play anymore). Games are like anything else, some get into it more than others. Some people keep buying games and don't finish any of them (and sit on forums all day long talking about how much they know about games). Some will play a game over many times and finish all (or most) of all they buy. Some lose interest quicker than others. It's that way with everything.

I have a LOT more PC games than I have console games, but that's porbably because I sell a lot of console games because they aren't timeless, where as a lot of PC games I can play 20 years later.

This could change going forward, since more recent console generations have had more story-driven, artistic titles (in my opinion), which are the ones I replay.

How old are you Vanzagar?.....
I'm going to be 42 in a few weeks...I've enjoyed the hell out of PC gaming for a long time. But the last years things have really changed for me, I'm guessing its my age because everything I've played seemed so juvenile and boring...my interest waned for games and PCs. I didn't fight it to much, though, just let myself go to my other interests, training and guns. I am happy to say, I'm in some of the best shape of my life and my shot groups are tight
This year there are a couple of games that have caught my attention and my excitement is back. I'm doing a couple of small upgrades to my machine, getting it ready for Wolfenstein, DiRT2, Dragon Age: Origins and Boarderlands.
I also feel its "gaming's last chance" for me, if these don't do it for me... I'm all for some mindless action at the end of the day but if I'm playing feeling bored or stupid ...I'm likely done for good.
