This is what I found so far about the list of changes in 3.0

Quote:
# Anti-piracy Solution: Zero-day piracy protection and server-side authentication help prevent game piracy before street date, and protect publishers and consumers by requiring authentication for online play

# In-game Marketplace: New Marketplace APIs let developers create unique in-game store fronts and experiences surrounding the sale of additional content, providing developers and publishers with new revenue streams, and consumers with a seamless gaming experience

# Roaming: PC gamers can now save their personal settings back to their Games for Windows - LIVE account in the cloud, providing access to their settings on any compatible and connected Windows PC

Also what's not mentioned is if a game supports it you can tie the game to your LIVE key so you can reinstall as many times as you want on as many computers as you want.

I wonder if Shadowrun still works on GFWL.

I was just going through my game shelf yesterday and I was actually thinking of reinstalling it. I bought it not long after it was released and I only got to play it for about a week before the match making servers went down for an extended amount of time. I haven't touched it since.

I'm sure the community is pretty much gone by now.

The new save in the cloud function can be extremely good if games start to use it. It was available before, but extremely limited in space (64KB). In the new version it is possible to have all settings and saves accessed everywhere and also after reformat without having to track down save folders on the HDD. Of course it requires the game to be adapted for it.

Here are a few more details on v3.0;
http://www.extremetech.com/article2/...2343873,00.asp

Anyway, it still has a lot of way to go. Gotta wonder why they don't integrate it with Messenger somehow.

It can still die a horrible death, as far as I am concerned.

Can this version at least allow you to sign in to the client without booting up a game yet? The fact that this oversight still hasn't been corrected is baffling to me.

And yes, I'm with NZ that I would rather they just shut the service down now, because the more they continue with this extremely half-assed approach, the larger the amount of games that are attached to the client will be destroyed when they inevitably no longer care anymore and drop the service.
