I don't like when a community, such as the PC gaming community, makes a clear and concise statement as to the format they support... as we have with Steam... and Microsoft says "we don't care" and forces another service down our throats using their power over publishers. It's just flat-out anti-consumer for their own ends, and the worst part is they don't even care about PC gaming that much, they're just doing it to be pricks.

And as said by someone else, when they finally give up on GFWL, how will it effect the games? MS is not above just cancelling all online features of those games entirely... meaning no more GTA4 online, no more downloading the content we paid for, etc. etc..

Just installed GFWL Client 3.0 and finally it's nice that you can view or buy DLCs from marketplace without leaving the game. I just tried it with Fallout 3.

You can log in without booting up a game. You can open the client from Microsoft Games for Windows - LIVE folder on start menu.

well, that not excactly what he asked, the Games for Windows - LIVE only opens the marketplace.

what he meant is full client, where you can adjust your profile, change it, communicate with friends etc...

I think you need to log in LIVE before clicking "View available content" from Download on the menu in Fallout 3 or other games. It'll see whatever DLC you owned or so by using your Gamertag.

oh i see it now, what i tried before was open live in game, go to profile, and press on my downloads, that just minimizes the game and opens the desktop marketplace

Oh I see, I just checked to see and didn't see the option to do so. He could be able to do that on xbox.com. Even you can view or buy contents there as well. Maybe that's something client 4.0 will bring sometime in the future.

So did they fix the exploit where you can activate any GFWL game just by using your valid GFWL key?

The Fallout 3 mouse cursor is still a little bit "off" in the menu which is damn annoying and I can't believe they didn't notice it when testing things.

New skin, but not a lot of changes, the zero day antipiracy is nice. How about actually selling some games via the service (or any damn service) - but no MGS love their retail partners.

Yeesh. The external client is still pathetic, seems all they did was change the skin colour. Still:

- No drop-shadow like every other app on Vista. Looks like crap.
- Non-re-sizable window. Really?
- Grand total of what...6 demos downloadable?

The problem is obvious - commitment, and related to that, funding. The GFWL team obviously doesn't have the latter, MS doesn't have the former.
