You say dollars, I assume US location. You say Krone or Euro's and I'll think Europe/Sweden.

No fud, just Steam:s Euro prices.

49.99€ converted to SEK (swedish krona) is: 513.36

513.36 SEK converted to USD is: 71.82

Direct2Drive charge you in USD so that leaves me with 39.95$ = 285.64 SEK + 25% vat = 357.03 SEK (49.94$)

So, final prices including vat:

D2D: 49.94$
Steam: 71.82$

Deal's available in the UK, but overpriced as per:

39.99 USD = 23.8716 GBP + VAT (15%) = 27.45. Actual price on steam = 34.99. Usually companies blame the shipping costs, so it must be that

Economies are different... an identical house doesn't cost the same in Florida as it does in Nebraska either.

Retail box is 22.99 to pre-order from Amazon. If I then buy RF1 & 2 from steam, I save 2 from this "deal". Amazon have to ship a physical object to me as well for that price - not sure how economic that is.

Similar situation in Poland.

49.99 converted to PLN ( Polish zloty) is 208.40

208.40 PLN converted to USD is 71.81

That has nothing to do with what I said.

Steam now lets me buy it ...but what the hell
All prices USD, all include RF1 and RF2.

D2D - $39.99
Steam - $69.99
Impulse - $83.66 WTF?

I mean why is it so hard to keep the same regional prices? I guess I better nab it at D2D before somebody works it out (or maybe D2D just aren't rip offs)

If anyone is in Europe (but not UK), I highly recommend Impulse as an option: http://www.impulsedriven.com/rfguerilla

It has the same Red Faction 1+2 bonus, but your wallet won't be raped (unless you're in UK unfortunately, the publisher has increased the price specifically for that one region).

Imagine if games on Steam sold for 70-80 USD in USA, that's the kind of situation this is. Games might be usually more expensive in Europe, but not by that much.

Digital distribution in general seems to be messed up anyway. I thought one of the strengths of digitial distribution was that it can skip manufacturing, retailers and a whole bunch, therefore making it cheaper... so why the heck aren't the games actually cheaper on digital stores? Add that and the fact all publishers wants to rape Europe, it's a bit of a cluster****.
