It has the same Red Faction 1+2 bonus, but your wallet won't be raped (unless you're in UK unfortunately, the publisher has increased the price specifically for that one region).
Yeap I love Impulse. The prices on there is what it should cost by digital distribution.
Red faction is abut 15$ cheaper than retail and you get the 2 previous games. That is what I call a DEAL. Not steams imaginery "deals"

Even on weekends when steam has some big game 50% or 75% off I can find it for the same price at retail!

That is not the same, since they are being sold for 70-80 in AUS, not USA.

Digital distribution in general seems to be messed up anyway. I thought one of the strengths of digitial distribution was that it can skip manufacturing, retailers and a whole bunch, therefore making it cheaper... so why the heck aren't the games actually cheaper on digital stores? Add that and the fact all publishers wants to rape Europe, it's a bit of a cluster****.
Production cost is only somewhat related... as I said, economies are different, thus pricing is different. It all depends on the average wages, the cost of living, and other such things... they don't have higher prices just to punish you. In capitalism things cost what people are willing to pay for them, and these companies have decided AUS is willing to pay more than the US, for whatever reasons.

I'm not talking about Australia. I'm saying that prices on steam are HIGHER than buying games retail in my country. There's no way that's justified. That's why I mentioned 70-80 USD, because that's the type of situation which is here.

They cost more on Steam in the US too, other than weekend sales.

Only if you specifically look for good deals. New games cost exactly the same in retail store and Steam in US. There might be some stores which sell it a bit cheaper, but those are the exception not the rule. On the other hand, in Norway EVERY game is 10-20% more expensive on steam than retail.

its more to do with steam bieng forced to up the prices by the developer/etc.

activision / infiinity ward or w/e did the samething with MW1. Price was 39 or 49USD, convert that to AUS back awhile ago and the game was like 45AUS on steam, or 100-110AUS at the store. the price went up i think 2-3 days later to 90AUS on steam.

I'm guessing that it's a testament to how great Steam is as a product that people continually complain about the pricing? I know it sucks, but haven't we had enough of these threads? If you don't want to pay the price on Steam and can get it cheaper somewhere else, then get it somewhere else - if you want to use Steam as a service and are willing to pay their prices, then buy through Steam.

If nobody bought their games through Steam because the prices were too high, then they would lower the prices. Someone must be paying the prices they're posting or they wouldn't be in business.

So, they skip on the manufacturing costs, they skip on the royalties paid to retailers and they charge more... Yep, sounds like the perfect deal. (For them, not us...)
