jlippo, I am talking about the light differences we noticed between crysis dx9 and dx10 shots.

It is also plainly obvious the sky box is a static bitmap, and when the game is in motion will probably look like crap. The game looks like the next generation of the oblivion/fallout engine, it is unfortunate that it has been leep frogged already by crytechs.
That's bull****. DX9 is Turing complete. It can render all of what you've described. Also CryTech really only uses the larger vertex buffer that DX10 allows, nothing else. That only benefits object-based motion blur. DX10 may be faster however.

We won't see anything past DX9 used with an efficiency until the next console generation.

I believe it looks very good, it will be probably even better in motion, doubt screens can do the gfx of this game justice.

I think the screens in the new Game Informer article look even better... has everyone seen them? I can't do scans, unfortunately, but I'm sure they're out there.

If the sky isnt volumetric then the god rays on some of them screenies will look terrible in motion. Also i thought ID Tech 5 engine was capable of DX10 damn waste if it isnt as the engine wont last that long.

Edit:

John Carmack mentioned in his keynote at QuakeCon 2007 that the id Tech 5 engine will be OpenGL- and DirectX 9-based, thus not requiring DirectX 10 (and, with it, Windows Vista) to run.
Bah a consolised engine im so dissapointed that it isnt DX10 capable, the level of eagerness for the next doom game has just dropped by half for me.
