So far it's been an interesting game. Id managed to keep it old school without just tossing out a tired rehash.

Nazis are just way too easy on any difficulty.
The bosses (2 so far) are interesting and fun, but nothing special to figure out.
The textures aren't anything special, but with the amount of detail in the game the overall effect works pretty nicely.

Gameplay is very smooth, I've noticed that 'weighted' feel to the mouse and movement. I like it.

Some of the level design, which I won't go into to avoid spoilers, is fantastic. They've really managed to tweak this engine for lighting and level size which were problems in Doom 3.

That said, with my 4870, any attempt at applying AA results in a nasty hit. Haven't really researched what others with ATI cards are doing for AA.

Overall, not a waste of time at all, but not worth more than $29 USD either.

Had to disable SSAA as well, it's too laggy now with those supernatural elements (30 FPS).
yeah same here it was fine with SSAA -50-FPS but when I used the veil it when down to -25-FPS

There is no quicksave. I have to keep playing these whole entire fights over and over, no matter how close I get. Consolitis is annoying! But I still love this game...definitely a worthy successor to RTCW.

I bought it - how are the different difficulty settings? Just changes in damage rates? Or is the AI at all better?

The reviews say that the AI is "laughably easy" at the lower settings, so I'd guess that's a part of it.

You know, I think the visuals in this are impressive especially because of how they've managed to turn Id Tech 4 from single shader (plastic)/dark to varied surfaces, bright lights, HDR, soft shadows, etc.

It might not be Crysis, but they definitely did update it!
