BF1942 delayed until Q1 2010

Why do producers always change the specs they so defended only to use that as an excuse for a delay?

G4: Why is Battlefield 1943 launching later on the PC? In retrospect, was this the right decision?

Dyke: We haven't released a Frostbite [DICE's game engine] built game on PC, so going into this project we lacked a starting foundation we had on Console. There are also many different and unique only challenges to the PC that has lead to us pushing the release even further to Q1 CY 2010 [early next year]. This was a hard pill to swallow, but it was absolutely needed to ensure the features and functionality that PC Players have come to expect from Battlefield on PC are not missing. Things like support for DirectX 9 and 10, higher player count (up to 32-player matches), wide peripheral support i.e. Joysticks for flying, VoIP, and ranked server provider hosting. So it was and still is the absolutely right decision, for quality sake, to not release until it is ready.

probably realised better not release anything close to mw2..

then again the delay shows that pc is afterthought

Although it will be nice to have Battlefield 1943 on PC, what we all really want is Battlefield 3. Not to mention Battlefield 1943 is starting to get a bit stale on consoles since there are only 3 maps so far.

yes its great to see DICE give ALL priorities to consoles these days. Extremely frustrating but if it keeps them afloat it will have to suffice. I was looking forward to this in preparation for BC2 but looks like for that to happen, they will inevitable delay BC2 which has a current release date of March 2, 2010. I was also thinking about that for the latest 1.50 BF2 patch which was supposed to be released by last christmas but is currently finished and awaiting resolution of office politics but will be released literally anytime now.

I think they should be given props for delaying the game to make it more PC centered... they did the same to Mirror's Edge and that game had an awesome PC version.

It does suck we have a back burner status and such, but at least the delays bring out a better game.
