Default DVI & QXGA resolutions - whats the deal?!

Apparently, something in the windows driver is topping out my DVI resolution at 1920x1200. Under linux, I've managed to roll my own modeline and produce a 2048x1536x40hz image. Woohoo!

So, any suggestions on how I can do the same under windows? I've tried using powerstrip, but it also tops out at 1920x1200 in the same way. This is using the 43.45 drivers, though I've also tried leadtek's

Oddly enough, the 1920x1200 resolution seems to actually be producing a 2048x1536 image with unfilled areas on the right and bottom.

The analog connection will produce a larger resolution without a problem - unfortunately, it is just a *bit* less sharp.

Another alternative is to get a dual-link video card, but the only the Quadro FX1000 & FX2000 seem to have dual link, and that's a fair chunk of change. If anyone can point me towards a non-quadro card with dual link, i'd be thrilled.

The Quadro FX 1000 doesn't have dual-link DVI, unfortunately.
