Default Redhat 9 and Toshiba 5205-S705?

Has anyone managed to get Redhat (XFree86) working with
the latest NVIDIA drivers and the Toshiba Satellite 5205-S705?
This is the recently released laptop w/ the GeForce FX Go5600.
I've managed to get the display working up to 1600x1200 by
using the VESA driver but when I make the modifications
listed in the NVIDIA driver documentation the display never
starts up correctly -- it only generates a "marble-like" image
that grows brighter over time...

I've tried the EDID and mobile specific changes listed in the
driver documentation but still no luck.

Any hints or suggestions?

I have the same problem with the 5205-S705.
It looks like it is not supported yet. I looks at
the read me in /usr/share/doc/NVIDIA_GLX-1.0/README
and the chip is not listed in
APPENDIX A: SUPPORTED NVIDIA GRAPHICS CHIPS. I sent an email to info@nvidia.com, but
they just gave me an automated reply that
told me to come to the website. I am not
sure what to do. I guess I will have to buy another

I was a little more fortunate...

NVidia contacted me with regards to this issue and said
it was known bug and that they hoped to have a new
driver out soon that would fix the problem. Unfortunately,
until then the VESA driver is the only real option to get a
working -- but of course, without hardware acceleration.

hi pat!

I have the same problem and I'm also
using the vesa driver. but I only managed
to get it working with 1280x1024. I tried to
get 1600x1200 working but without success.
As kernel-parameter I'm using vga=0x31b (1280x1024) and the XF86Config uses the actual resolution. I didnt get a higher resolution working with vga=xxxx. Also changing the resolution in the XF86Config didnt help.
How did you get it working? Maybe you could send me your XF86Config file?
