I want to get bigger speakers, preferably floor standing. Can I use those with the receiver from the Sony HTIb I have. Getting an additional receiver would go outside my budget. So I am thinking of getting something like the Energy 5.0 speaker set and use my original Sub and receiver from the Sony HT-SS2000. Would this setup work. And will I notice any difference from the Sony speakers?

You could...
Just make sure you don't get speakers at a lower or higher impedence, and you don't want to get speakers that are too powerful for your amp (ex: fronts rated for 200watts RMS when your amp can only provide a max of 100, etc). But yeah, should work... theoretically. ![]() |
