Not sure why, and perhaps it's just a driver issues, but I'm not seeing any depth-biased blending on the particle effects.

But who knows, maybe that was just in the Physx benchmark portion of the demo?

Just finished last night and wanted to report back.

First of all, definitely not the worst game I played. I didn't feel daunted by having to finish (Lost Planet: EC caused me to get a trainer to complete because it was so freaking boring by the end), it wasn't overly difficult (on normal) but challenging enough that I didn't feel it was too easy (but almost slightly) and while the heavies sounded ominous (they also sounded familiar but can't place where the ripped the sound bite from), they at least go down with a constant blast of raw firepower.

The story itself was better than I expected, to be honest. Once the end came and it started to reveal itself, it wasn't half-bad... while the script writing itself was mostly weak, I liked the ending.

The final level was much better than I thought it would be - trouncing through Pompeii was not my idea of a good time from thinking about it as I didn't think killing a bunch of Roman citizens was good gameplay, but the reasons for being there as well as the excuse of it being buried under ash to let us wreak future-style havoc was a good one.

All in all, I say I enjoyed the game more than TimeShift (which I'm sure many will disagree), which did become a struggle toward the end for me to bother to finish. I still don't like the mute main character, and I think they missed a lot of opportunities for a cool personal struggle, but overall it was a worthwhile expedition. Not sure if it's worth $35.00, but it could be worth $20.00.

I pretty much agree with all that, though I liked Timeshift more since it was more polished.

Maybe I'm a sucker for some sort of overarching storyline, but until the very end when you hit the paradox, the entire story is completely gah gah, as is the setting Had TimeShift taken you back to a period that was somewhat familiar (as DoD does), then I think I'd have liked TimeShift better, but the weird semi-WWII + Altered with Futuristic almost-steampunk was a bit bananas

Well that's nice. I just finished it. Oh well. Was an ok game. Sniper mission was a standout. Last series were pretty lame. Fighting the Agents just isn't as fun and blasting German, Russian and US troops.

I liked the end levels until they got increasingly insane with the number of enemies.

I thought civil war was the most fun, though I think WW2 stood out the most story/graphics wise.
