Damage mod video....

Quote:
Download link at end of this message)

This mod enables damage for cars in NFS:SHIFT. This is v2.00 and requires full game and it is recommended to use only on patched game (latest v1.1 patch).

What it does?

Enables...

1)Gearbox damage, tyres can blow, engine can blow/damage, tire fall off

2)Front/rear aero affection, 'sharp object' damage on car (impact)

3)360Hz physics tick rate

4)Tweaked damage values to be more realistic and make the driver value carefull driving

Engine will detoriate with time according to damage it has and radiator damage preventing proper cooling. Wheel base can get bent, wheels fall off, deformation of car affects aerodynamics and more to provide a more realistic driving experience and the cautiousness of a realistic driving experience at blazing speeds!

I noticed PhysX files go by during installation. I would assume that if the nVidia drivers detect PhysX that they will be routed to the GPU rather than CPU. I have read that ATi users have slightly lesser performance in Shift from nVidia as their PhysX is most likely CPU rendered.

I dunno. I assumed that the GPU would render PhysX if it detected it (similar to how a GPU will also render 3D graphics when it detects it). If it doesn't for Shift, I doubt the effects in Shift are intensive enough to make a difference... I don't think the game is programmed to include additional physical objects if it detects GPU physics. It's probably just used for the smoke, pylons, and tires that are laying around.

I ran into a strange bug where a default Viper would basically act as if it had a burned clutch (or totally messed up pedals) and wouldn't move from the start. Selling/re-purchasing the car didn't make a difference, but if I for instance bought a drivetrain upgrade it was fine again. Another solution that works is to reset the advanced tuning options back to default, switch to simple tuning, exit the menu and manually save the game. After I have done that the default Viper was working properly again.

Since I do like to setup the cars a bit closer to my driving style, the game must have messed up the tuning setup, but by purchasing an upgrade it reset certain values again.

I guess with a car like the R8, the game is very enjoyable and fun!
But then I started a car battle race with the Porsche GT2 and it's just horrible. I'd kill myself if my GT2 would handle like that after I payed 200k for it... This game is really bad advertising for any car manufacturer

There is a new Real Mod available: http://forum.racedepartment.com/down...-mod-1-0-1719/

Not so sure if that Mod is so great as advertised. The piss handling and aggressive AI is still there and the car remained drivable after a big impact.
Good deal man thanks for the links. I agree with you about the Tier 3 cars.
On a side note. I've had a few friends over to try out the game. Some are into sims and some are not. Every person I watched play this game over accelerated and way over braked. I watched at every person locked up their tires going in to turns and spin on the way out..allot. After I told everyone to go really easy on the brake and gas, no more sliding into turns and one dude stated taking first. He said after he started paying attention to the brake sounds he was able to apply just enough. The brakes are real sensitive and I think can be killers if you lock them up going in to almost any turn.
