Upcoming patch information.

Hello everyone,

First and foremost, we appreciate your patience if you've run into issues with the PC version of RFG. All of the reporting and data gathering in this section of the forums has been very helpful. We've been working closely with Reactor Zero to funnel any issues from within this forum in an attempt to solve any issues.

I'm going to keep comments closed on this thread so that it is just an information and general knowledge thread. Note that not every issue reported so far will be fixed with this first patch, but we will continue to investigate and gather data where needed in order to fix other issues.

Similarly, we do not have a release date for the patch yet, since it's still being worked on and there may be more additions to the list below. Once a date is known, I'll let everyone know.

Here's what we have so far:

* Users can experience shadow corruption using ATI 1000, 2000, and 3000 series cards in certain situations. ATI is actually working on this as it is a driver issue.
* Sometimes using anti-aliasing on certain ATI cards causes weird flashing\tearing. Disabling anti-aliasing may fix these issues before the patch, but the patch will correct this issue.

Fixes:

* 5.1 Surround Sound was not working properly for some users.
* Several crashes for users running ATI cards have been fixed (most often when accessing Display Options in game)
* Performance improved on ATI cards
* Cursor Sensitivity for 360 controller has been tweaked. Before, moving diagonal and vertical adjustments moved at different speeds. They now move at equal speeds.
* Turret Sensitivity has been adjusted to work without having to drop the base value.
* MP Playlists will be updated to include all maps and modify certain options. Currently, a few maps are only available through Custom Matches.
* Some overlapping text and icons have been fixed.

Again, thank you everyone for your patience and I'll update this thread when there is any new information.

HOW TO FORCE DX9, SOLVES SPEED AND FRAMERATE ISSUES:

This was just posted on the official forums: the way to force DX9, and no I am not kidding, is to...

Click on your desktop as the game loads.

WEIRD.

For the Steam version to work, you need to make a shortcut directly to the game exe, then launch from there and click on your desktop as it does. The game will load in DX9, and you will know because the extra DX10 graphics options are not present (and for some reason the menu is sluggish).

Running in DX9 not only skyrocketed my framerates, but it elminated framrate loss when buildings are falling.

Also, most importantly, IT FIXED THE SPEED ISSUE, the game runs normal.

Halle-fraking-llujah.

Let me know if it works for you, and thanks to the original posters on the official forum.

damn, gotta try that. I've been "forcing dx9" by deleting my settings, running the game, setting to default. running the game again (3 starts usually gets me dx9 mode)

dx10 mode just crashes for me, like 10 minutes, dx9 runs pretty flawlessly. I'm going to try it right now.

Edit: Didn't work for me, first time it worked, next 3 times it was dx10.

So the port is the reason for DX10 sucking once again? I think DirectX 10 is one of the most monumental failures ever created in gaming. The first thing I do is figure out how to get the game running in DX9 and gain the 20% lost by using DX10. Let's face it nothing good has come from DirectX 10.

I am in no way exited about DX11. I'm more worried about losing a DX9 path eventually.

Also - if RF Guerrilla is running DX9 you lose the options for Sun Shafts and Ambient Occlusion under the display options. This is one way to see if its in DX 9 or 10.

This does work - HOWEVER you must have Ambient occlusion and Sun Shafts enabled in the options!!!! If you dont it must already start in dx9 as the options are still there if they are already disabled.

I always play in 2 channel sound with my headphones and I have enough horsepower for DX10, so I really haven't had much of an issue with this game.

Its not about horsepower. Its about FPS drops in DX10 regardless of your setup.
