Running in DX9 solved my overly fast game speed issue, which was pretty important. If you never had the speed issue, I can not being excited.

Just started really playing through the game. DX10 and SLI is very smooth except when near a lot of billowing smoke for some strange reason. It will play at a constant 60 fps and then dip to 45 and 30 (from my gut feeling feel for it). This game would have been great with PhysX support. I really don't like how objects can intersect other objects. I can see why they did it from a performace perspective. PhysX could have taken care of that and much more.

I am in no way exited about DX11. I'm more worried about losing a DX9 path eventually.

Also - if RF Guerrilla is running DX9 you lose the options for Sun Shafts and Ambient Occlusion under the display options. This is one way to see if its in DX 9 or 10.
I dunno, the game is rendering more in dx10, more swirly dust and sunshafts etc, and the resi5 dx10 client is faster than the dx9 version.

Ends up this game is very moddable: http://www.factionfiles.com/ff.php?action=files

Nothing much yet, but I look forward to seeing what comes down the pipe.

Target already put this on clearance and I have read it is not selling at all well on PC, which I think is a shame. One wonders if it is because of the horrible Saint's Row 2 port or because of the two better games released on the same day, or something else entirely.

Despite some minor bug issues, I do reccommend the game... lot of fun so far.

This is a great game, I love it. It runs better in DX10 too, its alot smoother most the time (except after buildings come down). Target still has it for full price. Not sure where its on clearance but I as at Target yesterday and its definitely still $39.99. Red Faction was never a big AAA title I'd imagine with Shift and Batman coming out the same day it just eclipsed RF to everyone except fans of the original.

Well the ATI issues probably explains my Dx10 crashes, runs pretty well in dx9 mode though. Frames take a huge dive when some destruction / ai combat happens though.

Ever since I forced DX9 the game has ran at a solid 60fps at all times, even during massive physics explosions and such. There is a mission in a town during an air bombing where buildings are constantly falling and it never hesitated a second.

That's with 16xAA and 16xAF forced as well.

So, the game performs amazingly well in DX9, I can't believe it and Saint's Row 2 are the same engine.

Played the game for 6 hours straight last night. No issues at all. It did dip to 30 fps a few times even with my system. Ran the game in DX10.

Yup I'm holding off playing. I was playing in 2.1 with CMSS-3D and the sound is normal but I'm just going to wait.
