Saw this link to a PhysX destruction demo on the front page. Imagine if this game had the same level of destructive detail.

Wow, it sure is running slow. Im on Vista 64 and the performance when blowing up that first building is really bad. Using DX9 and turning off threaded optimization helped, but not enough. This one seems to be joining Cryostasis in the waiting line for a new system.

Yea, this is another game that just NEEDS a quad core.

The patch is getting closer: http://community.redfaction.com/forums/topic/7426

It probably wont run any smoother but hopefully some or most issues will be fixed.

Good to hear, I'm not having any issues with the game myself, so while the patch has been delayed an absurdly long time, I don't really mind. What I find interesting is how in that thread a guy claims that he gets a better FPS when he switches the program from 'high priority' to 'low priority.' I don't see why that would possibly help at all?

I get better DX10 performance in a window compared to full screen, so anything is possible.

Remember the days when you could just install a game, and, provided you had at least the minimum system requirements, you'd be up and playing in no time?
No, I do not remember those times ever existing, and if there was ever a time that is close to that it is right now, not years ago when things were harder and more complicated.

Time to ditch the dual. Im running a Q9550@4.3ghz with a GTX 275 and this game runs great for me in DX10 at 1920X1200 with 4XAA. Turning off soft shadows and sun shafts helped a ton.

Games of old:

"Why won't my audio work!? Why is my modem sharing the same IRQ as my soundcard?! I need to free up HOW much RAM in base memory to get the .exe to run!?"

I agree with you Narcissist, things were much harder in the old days. It's far easier to get things running now than ever.

They were much harder. himem, loading sound card drivers in DOS, mouse drivers, then praying you had enough memory to launch the game.
