The first game was so awesome and the story/world had such potential.

I really feel like they screwed the pooch after that.

I loved all Halo games on the contrary, thought they were all brilliant. Graphics, style, gameplay, soundtrack, story etc. However I must note that reading the Halo novels concurrently enhanced the experience a great, great deal.

I enjoyed the first Halo, but Halo 2 was such a huge dissapointment to me that I lost interest (however I managed to finish the game, PC version). Tried 3rd game on the 360 but it didn't hook me

I think the whole series would have been better if it was about the Arbiter. He was a much cooler character.

It is very overhyped. Still it's a fun game with some quirky moments. Thing I like most are the Marines. Mostly the things they say, like when you hit a jump in a warthog. Or when they ask you where you got the 'bike' from.

Oh and Laura Prepon did the voices for some marines in Halo 2. ::

The original game was amazing. I played it on Xbox at launch was just stunned... if a lot of people left PC gaming that day, I wouldn't be surprised, because Halo on Xbox felt like PC gaming taken to another level.

Of course, PC gaming quickly caught up and passed it, as always happens, but it was a great moment for a while there.

I eventually played it on PC and it is of course nowhere near as stunning, but it still is a good shooter. The sequels, on Xbox and PC, were trash, unfortunately... well, singleplayer-wise anyway. I don't play multi and have no idea how overhyped that might be.

I found the 1st to be kinda boring towards the end with all the samey locations. Still it had it's moments. First game I played on console with my 5.1 system that made me stop and go wow, console is getting close to PC in terms of 3d sound.
