I think that I may want to build my own kit. I don't want to spend a lot of money, and I don't want something that is complicated. I'm having some heat issues with my current rig, and I want to push it a bit more.
TIA |

I've not done any water cooling my self, but I always hear Danger Den brought up. There are a few others I've heard of but cannot recall their names. I know Xion X2 is really into that stuff, so maybe shoot him a PM as I've not seen him post in a while. Darth Beavis probable has a few good pointers as well.

What kind of temps are you getting DD? My case is well known for having crappy temps due to it's design but I am idling at 35C and get a high of around 60C after running Prime 95 for a couple hours. My CPU cooler works pretty damn well.

Right now I'm idling at 40+...and I'm in the mid 60's with temps. i want to be at a low 30/low 50 threshold.

Might want to just dump the coolit for a True...My E8500 in a small Antec case tops out at around 50c with OCCT and I'm using the true's little brother, Ultima 90. That's at 3.8Ghz btw.

What case do you have?
Do you want the radiator internal or external? What components do you want to water cool? |

2 x 120MM Radiator $45
http://jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCR220-QP-Res-pr-3975.html Swiftech MCP655 Pump $65 http://jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCP655-...r-pr-3803.html Apogee GTZ for i7 $50 http://jab-tech.com/Swiftech-Apogee-...7-pr-4467.html Swiftech Microres $25 http://jab-tech.com/Swiftech-MCRES-M...2-pr-4312.html Tubing ~10 foot will give you more than enough, $0.59 / foot http://jab-tech.com/Masterkleer-Tubi...D-pr-3079.html Some additive $3.50 http://jab-tech.com/Pentosin-G11-Lon...e-pr-3707.html ...and some worm clamps from a hardware store. That will get you a nice setup for about $200. The MCP350 pumps are crap, alot of people will suggest them with the modded tops for more flow, but I've seen my fair share die. I've had 2 go and a few guys I know had theirs die too. The D5 / MCP655 are bullet proof pumps. You could also spend more on a radiator and block, but at some point doubling the $$$ doesn't double the performance. I went from this radiator to a Thermochill PA120.3 and really only dropped a dew degrees ($50 to $120) with a CPU and GPU on it. This setup is a decent price / performance setup. |
