190.36 Simple Overscan Correction

Thank you NVIDIA for adding in the slider.

The slider works by a fixed amount on x and y together, with a slider maximium of 100.

This is an advance on what we previously had.

Reports are in that it is not possible to obtain the right correction for both x and y using the single setting on 4:3 and 16:9 TV screens.

Perhaps it just needs a higher adjustment, the enforced ratio may be correct, perhaps if the max was 150 it might be better tested?

Alternatively it may remain preferable to have individual correction on x and y axis, that is with x and y axis sliders.

Is there any thing in the pipeline?

No, the adjustment is kept proportional to avoid distorting the image. The 100-pixel limit is somewhat arbitrary. If there are common cases where it's not enough, I could probably get it increased, though there are some limitations on how much adjustment can be applied in certain configurations.

Even 120 would probably be enough for me, possibly less. 150 would certainly be ample. My TV does ~5% overscan. Some may do more. Can I increase it - or do we need wait for the next update?

No, it's hard-coded in the driver so you'll have to wait for an update. Sorry! I'll file a bug.

Would it be possible to have negative overscan or underscan? My TV-set needs it.

Boston - What's your TV model? (Out of interest)

AaronP - Any chance of setting the overscan setting in xorg.conf? Seems some crashes do not retain the values, it would be more robust to hard code it in xorg.conf. (Or is it there now?)

The readme overscan references seem to be to legacy card drivers and ranges and seem to be out of date?

For my first tested TV 130 is good.

Can we set this in xorg.conf?
