Default G5 vs G500!

Im currently using the Logitech G5 Laser Gaming Mouse 2007 Edition mouse, I love the shape, feel and weight of this but im after more buttons.

Is anybody using or have you ever used the Logitech G500 10 Button Gaming Mouse, Whats it like compared to the G5?

Are the 10 buttons fully programmable to ALL games?

They aren't fully programmable for all games. Not all games will see the buttons, you can set them up as keystrokes and get around this though. I used to do it on my MX1000.

In my many years of collecting various mice, from what I've seen a mouse (to a gamer) is a very personal thing and no one technology/feature: track-ball, optical, laser nor n-buttons will ever beat out a mouse that moves & tracks exactly how you like it to.

I have been very pleased w/ my G5 for the past 3 years. But as soon as I heard and read about the new successor to my beloved mouse, I started drooling. Anywayz, made an order on this baby so hopefully I will be able to make some comments later. Given my history w/ Logitech I think I won't be disappointed w/ the G500. I love the new design btw!

My G5 turns 4 very soon and its still going strong. When its time is up, the G500 shall take its place.

Ive heard mixed reviews about this mouse. Some say the new 3 side buttons on the left tend to get in the way when you try to press a specific button. And the scroll wheel is overly sensitive when you press it down, which often results in a left/right scroll or a scroll down that can prove to be fatal in games. Is this true? I know the mouse has a switch to disable the hyperscroll though, i figure that should solve the problem.

10 buttons on a mouse? WTF? You damn whippersnappers are spoiled.
I remember when we only had 2 mouse buttons and no wheel. We had to roll it 5 miles to get to the other side of the screen and I didn't even have any shoes on while doing that.

Well I got it 2 days ago and so far I'm very pleased w/ it. The weight cartridge is more resistant to friction now, so won't fall out of the designated area as easily as G5's counterpart. Clicking usually fees lighter than that of G5's. Speaking of that, the scroll wheel button doesn't require as much brute force as G5's. Pressing G5's scroll button used to give me good finger exercises (due to its much force required to make it click), G500's counterpart feels a lot more relaxed and natural. The side buttons don't really get in the way. I mostly use the middle and backward buttons. The forward button is kinda outa my reach so I don't really find it useful. The scroll wheel button is not overly sensitive imo. You can set how fast it scrolls in setpoint and so far in games, it's adequate. I haven't found much use out of the hyperscroll button, so for the time being it's sitting duck. For those of you who care about the extra 5700dpi as opposed to 2000dpi of G5, you may find it useful in FPS games. As a competitive CW (Crysis Wars) player, in-game movements feel a lot smoother and rapid turnings and aiming seem to have been slightly benefited by the extra dpi provided by 500. All in all, I like it and have already transferred my G5 over to my 2ndary rig. Also design looks much slicker than G5, so that's another thing I like about 500.
