Default 3-D Applications do not detect 440SE

Hi All
I am fairly new to Linux. I am running SUSE 8.1 Professional with a GeForce MX 440SE card. I have downloaded the RPMs from the NVIDIA site and followed the instructions for loading them, and modifying the XF86Config file.
The X-server starts up with the NVIDIA Logo in the background and runs fine in 2-D. Descent runs smoothly.
But games like FlightGear give message: "3D Hardware Support not Available: No 3D graphics card available or 3-D support not configured yet".
I have tried to set up 3-D support in SAX2, but get message "3D Acceleration Impossible: the installed card cannot use hardware3D/OpenGL acceleration"
Please, any suggestions???
Thanks
Brendon

RPMs used:
NVIDIA_GLX-1.0-4191.suse81.i586.rpm

Default XF86.log Attached

Here is my XF86.log file. It was dropped as this system only seems to accept one file at a time (*^#%!).
Thanks
