I see no quality difference in the bench with replication on or off. If someone knows what it does specifically, sound off.

I'm still mystified why I score 40.8 in v2 with normal tess and 46.8 in v1. That's 1920x1200 default filtering and rep off with v2.

Yeah I noticed that too - that's why I asked.. Got 27.2 avg and 10.2 min fps with my 5850 @ 950/1250

My normal tess results are slower by 6FPS under v2. (40.8 vs 46.8) Seems to me like they intentionally decided to make this bench crippling.

None of my results would be "playable" if Heaven were a game with v2. 14.8 min with normal tess? Not acceptable.

Luckily, it isn't a game and my 5870 does push everything I own well.

Well it's just a benchmark so it doesn't really matter. My 5850 is struggling a bit in BF BC2 with 4xAA when there's a lot of smoke. Especially when you're looking through the scope of your sniper rifle.

Agreed. All I care about is if my games start dipping below 30FPS mins a lot. If that happens in the future I'll need to; play at a lower res, or buy a better GPU if one is a available. I don't bother with Crossfire anymore. I've tried it many times and always end up ditching it due to an accumulation of small annoyances. An idea of how many times I've given Crossfire or ATI multi-GPU a chance is below.

That's an impressive list I must say! Never tried cf myself(had a second 5850, but it died before I ever got the chance to cf them). The gtx 480 seems like it's shaping up to be a pretty good card and if it performs better than my oc:ed 5850 in the min fps department I'll definitely be getting one. Otherwise it's crossfire time.

If the 480 OCs well and leads the 5870 by a decent amount I may get one. The degree will matter and the price. Do I need one? No

If you want to experiment with Crossfire, go for it. Formulate your own opinion. I always strongly suggest people don't buy a second card from a place that only allows them to return it for a replacement if it's defective. I'm saying folks should make sure they can get a full refund for their second card purchase in case they're not satisfied with Crossfire for whatever the reason.

I'm not brand loyal. So if the 480 rocks, I'll own one.

Very early results for triple HD 5870 Crossfire. 900|1250 set from OD in the CCC. Default run save done @ 1920x1200. Turbo was on in the BIOS so my CPU clock is actually higher. Darn thing won't stay off.



I've still got a lot tuning to do on this rig. Just got it up a few hours ago.

Nice one man . When you get chance could you do a run at the same settings as me, please (1920x1080 4xAA 16xAF). Might go tri-fire sometime in the future.
