Hello, Ubuntu 8.04 32 bit here, I just compiled my custom kernel 2.6.31.4, it is a Real Time (Low Latency) kernel that I will boot to just for professional audio work. I also have the original generic 2.6.24 where I installed Nvidia Driver 185.18.36 (everything fine there), when I boot to my custom kernel and try to compile the module I get an error that says "ERROR: Unable to build the NVIDIA kernel module." I have built my own custom kernels before and installed the Nvidia module on them without problems, this is the first time this happens to me.
Attached: /var/log/nvidia-installer.log Thanks. |

Ehh ... Slow down :-D
You can't build for kernel *.31-rt? Or you can't build for some older RT-kernel (which is kind of expected.) BTW, what version of the Nvidea module? |

The 185.18.36 NVIDIA Linux graphics driver release is not expected to build against 2.6.31*-rt*, please see previous threads on this topic; however, the 190.42 driver should build against your kernel.

Yes of course, kernel is too new. Installed 190.42, works like a charm!
Thanks! |

Just one question. Is the 190.42 a beta release?
Didn't see Beta Version in red on the nvidia boot logo. Thanks. |

190.42 is the current 190.xx web release candidate, see http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=122606.
