Hi I just trying to configure an Philips LCD/TV 42PFL9664H connected on HDMI to my 9300GS (Asus N51 laptop)
I read about some problems with Philips and Nvidia, maybe this is the problem. On Windows I get HDTV1080P, but I can not get in on Linux. Seems that's EDID data is not valid, not sure. When select HDMI input on TV, appears signal not valid. I try cleaning xorg.conf. Before I get 640x480 but not with current config. Attach nvidia bug report and info I get with MonInfo on Windows. Thanks for help, and sorry my poor english |

Try 190.42. One the fixes is:
* Updated the NVIDIA X driver to allow, on GeForce 8 or greater GPUs, more modes to validate on digital display devices whose EDIDs report very constrained HorizSync or VertRefresh ranges. |

with 190.42, same problem. As before activating NoEdidModes, I get 640x480 output
Upload EDID information (capture EDID on nvidia-settings), 190.42 and before. Thanks for help |

solved!!!
The problem was the HDMI cable. Even old cable is gold connector and protected, and new has not gold connector and has no proteccion. But with this cheaper cable work fine, the others (2 cables buying in same store) are wrong. maybe the others with problem like me, must try with another cable. thanks |
