It just seems like it goes out of its way to show that it's supposed to be based on New Orleans rather than being subtle about it (think Eastern European influence in Half-Life 2).

Ah, yeah I guess that is true. I was thinking more in realism terms, like you thought it looks unreal. The original L4D was sublte about being in Pennsylvania as well.

My best friend and I just played it... he shared the opinion of those who found the bright atmosphere and more comical tone to be annoying or lackluster. He also thought the melee weapons were all terrible, which is something I highly disagree with.

I guess I like the game for being basically an expansion pack, but one that tries to change the tone and feel of the game. The added gore, the sunshine, the melee stuff... it just feels more lively to me, and more exciting. I am glad I have the original campaigns as well though.

I wonder if they will ever merge the games and have all 8 survivors and 10 campaigns available at any time, and put the new weapons and enemies into the old maps. That would be SO awesome. An expansion pack would have done that... why not this?

If any of you have any problems with the game, try verifying integrity of the game's cache files in steam. Usually helps to fix internal game problems, it helped a lot of people including my friend.

I like the new tone of the game... for the last one I was expecting much depth to go with the dark and serious tone of things...
and it wasn't there

It seems to fit very much together now! The only problem I have with the demo is finding a decent server...

Still trying to get used to the music. The horde music seems so "Benny Hill". Played with a couple of friends and they all agreed that the music seemed way way off for a game such as L4D2
