Just finished my first playthrough. Finished in 74 hours, explored 97% of the world and did 53% of all things. Great game.

Only dislike:
There is no way to have a happy ending with morrigan. This makes the romance feel some what not worth. I knew I should have prepared for something like this after reading the books with the rowan, maric and loghain thing but it still doesn't feel right. Oh how I hate David Gaider and Claudia Black for creating such a great character, thanx to the great writing and voice acting I got emotionally involved. Haven't had that since some of the bg characters like viconia and minsc.Oh well hopefully the mod that is being worked solves this somewhat. Will try the other romances and see if are more rewarding, but I really liked the morrigan character.
Hardest part for me so far is one of the side quests in Denerim where you have to go in the basement of some place and there are a ton of enemies in each room, and it's almost impossible to just aggro one group at a time without getting them all. I think I had to reload like 5 or 6 times to finally beat it - felt great when I finally did, though.
hardest part was that big room with 3 doors and 3 blood mages in

This is exactly the part I was referring to. I was able to pull the group on the far left with my bow and my team all holding position in the hallway right before that room. It took me 3 or 4 tries just to get that far. After that though I still had to take on both groups and 2 blood mages at the same time which took me a few tries as well. I was getting frustrated but when I finally got through with that place it felt fantastic.

I love when they do those massive fire explosions and kill their own men.

I have Alistair with 80% fire resistance, so he laughs in the face of blood mages. Except when they shoot lightning.

So are there any recommended tweaks I should do or mods I should install for this game?

I have the 1.01a patch and I'm going to to the Large Address Aware update to improve load times as someone recommended earlier.

If you plan to use a rogue there is a hotfix for the dagger issue (it does not use dexterity for damage like it's supposed to) but other than that I don't think there any other essential mods or tweaks.
