Microsoft Security Essentials scores high.

Not sure if anybody else has caught this one yet, but the jury appears to be in:

Long story short, MSE won the highest possible rating (ADVANCED+) on both performance and removal. I think the performance test is a bit too generous, but there aren't many that are ahead of MSE there, nor are they ahead by that far. As far as the removal test, it does way better than most.

Considering that it fares better than the majority of the "name brand" ones that you have to pay for, it's not a bad deal.
