Ubuntu 9.10 7300gt 512 driver 190.42

hey guys,
I have dual boot system xp/ubuntu
7300gt 512
in xp all 512 megs show up and are used
in linux including fedora.ubuntu.etc etc all show only 256 as being used
I am beginning to hate this

any help would be well appareicated
