Okay, i ordered GTA 4 and i won't blame Rockstars if it won't run nicely because the PCGHW benchmark clearly proves the advantage of quads (E8600 vs Q9550).

An 8800 GTS is over the recommended spec, of course it will run good for you. A Quad-Core for this game runs the game smoother, especially when driving and my C2D at the same Ghz never ran it as smooth, it's almost silky smooth on my Quad-Core.

Almost every console game runs at "1080p" but it is upscaled, like a DVD in a Blu-Ray player. The actual game itself runs at 720p or often even less than that. Modern Warfare for instance runs at 600p.

You are completely forgiven for falling in the hype bucket

+1 for truth. MY Q9550 is at 4.0Ghz, 8GB DDR2 and I just recently upgraded from a 280 GTX to HD5870. I dont really see i7 in my future.

Try running GTA IV on a 7800GTX and a dual core, it's piss poor and I remember that I couldn't play the game at 1024x768 without it lagging badly. The simple fact is, the game it very taxing on hardware, up there with Crysis.

The amount of detail and AI in the game is awesome, no wonder it needs a very good rig to play at at high settings.
More brain washing in effect, try 720P with upscaling. That means the best a 360 can do is 1280x720 - I bet games would run fantastic at that low of a res on a PC.

Not with a 7800GTX 256mb. I used to play GTA IV with one about 4 months ago.

Just remember that consoles use old hardware. The 360 is nearly 5 years old and the PS3 is 4 years old. Try playing GTA IV on a 5 year old PC.

So it was written for multiple core consoles, maybe a bad thing but there's nothing like it in terms of depth of environment and life-like physics, Cartloads of game characters all falling about realistically and bumping off cars and such and destructible environments its freakin awesome!!!

All other FPS's are re-hashed quake compared to GTAIV (including Crysis).

Name a game that comes close and I'll play it.

NVxdanger / CRY5IS I'll be in Bohan.

You can't compare consoles with PC like that

Is there a way to get AA int GTA4? I have seen people say you can but I have not seen how it is possible.

Thanks!
