Default Re: Weird problem vaguely associated with OC'ing

I think it has more to do with Windows than OC'ing. The other day my PC sat idle most of the day and took forever to shutdown. Yesterday the PC was on for the same amount of time... I played some games... and it shutdown quick as could be.

in your windows folder there is a subfolder called 'prefetch' delete all the files in there with the extension .pf

note: windows will cache parts of the applications it loads/unloads, it stores those bits in there. Windows will rebuild what it needs on the next reboot.

It does seems somewhat random for me - i've got no OC at the mo' but it did it twice in a row yesterday, first time when restarting on nvidia driver update then on shutting down for the night. This is after I changed the slots the memory is in, so that's obviously not a factor.

It definately happens MUCH more often when my comp' is OC'ed though.

I'm going to update to W7 64 over Christmas so i'll post if that fixes it.

I don't have that folder - I disabled prefetching in the registry when I got my SSD.
