Red face Can any G/GT 2xx series cards support HDMI audio in Linux?

Can any G/GT 2xx series cards support HDMI audio in Linux? I don't need HD bitstreaming or anything--just something coming out over HDMI. S/PDIF pass-through is perfectly fine if it is confirmed to work on one of the current-gen cards.

I had high hopes for my GT 220, but judging by the current driver this isn't going to fly until we get a new release.

I'm guessing it's safe to say that silence == negative.

I don't use HDMI audio, but I noticed this thread: HDMI audio no longer works with 190.xx releases

The "no longer works" part seems to imply that it once did work. So I guess the nvidia driver really does feature HDMI audio support and I would assume that the GT 2xx are included, but the feature MAY (I haven't actually read that thread) now be broken for some people...

I have GTX260 with DVI-HDMI-adapter, and audio is correctly output. Of course, it is just S/PDIF passthrough via a small cable between the graphics card and sound card.

You have/have not tried this with HDMI, only via adapter?

None of them work and based on the lack of nvidia's response, it does not appear to be on their radar. I would wait if you haven't bought it until after support comes out just in case it can only be supported with a specific card.

I wish they would put a disclaimer up or a sticky so people will know that before buying these cards.

Are there any connectors to take sound from an onboard audio card and and combine it with the HD video signal from this card?

I really hate going analog with my HD TV but it doesn't have a separate slot for sound with the the HDMI connection.

It does for my vga connection, but that is back to analog (which is what I am doing.)

It only has DVI-connectors, so the adapter is necessary.

Thanks for the responses. Looks like I will stick with ATI.

Are the devices different for this series? I don't mind buying one just so I can get the decoding even if it is (until this sorts out) anlog but I don't want to get one and then see when supports comes out that only GT 240+ are supported. (I got bit by that before.)

And I have no plans to go to ATI, I just want to make sure what I get is as futureproof as possible.
